Launches attract scammers. Most of what keeps your OMI safe comes down to a few habits: use the official links, protect your accounts, read what you sign, and never share your secrets. Here's the short version, then the detail.
The golden rules:
- The only staking site is staking.ecomi.com.
- ECOMI will never DM you first, and will never ask for your seed phrase, private key, password or 2FA codes.
- Rewards arrive in your VeVe account automatically. There is nothing to claim anywhere else.
Use the official links
Bookmark these and use your bookmarks, rather than links from replies, DMs or search ads:

Check the address bar before you sign in or connect a wallet. Scam sites copy the look of the real one and use addresses that are one letter off.

Protect your accounts
- Use a strong, unique password for your email and your VeVe account. A password manager makes this easy: it creates long random passwords and remembers them for you.
- Turn on two-factor authentication (2FA) everywhere it's offered: your email, your exchange accounts and your VeVe account. Use an authenticator app or a passkey rather than SMS where you can.
- Turn on two-factor protection in OMI Unlimited. In the app, go to Profile, then Settings, then Two-factor protection, and add an authenticator app or a passkey. After that, every transaction and any wallet export from the embedded wallet made for you needs your second factor, so someone who got into your session still couldn't move your OMI.
- Secure your email. Your email can reset your other passwords, so it deserves the strongest protection of all.
Read what you sign
Every transaction from the embedded wallet made for you opens a confirmation that says exactly what it does, for example "Stakes 1,000,000 OMI for 3 months. It unlocks on Jan 1, 2027." Read it before you tap.
- The staking contract is
0x2fD9…7dEb. If a pop-up asks you to approve your OMI for any other address, stop. - Staking never asks you to send OMI or ETH to a person, or to "verify", "sync" or "validate" your wallet.
- If you use a third-party wallet such as MetaMask, review your token approvals from time to time and revoke any you don't recognize.
Send a test transaction first
Before you move a large amount, or send to a new address for the first time, send a small test amount and check it arrives. It costs a fraction of a cent on Base and can save you from a costly mistake.
- Check the network. OMI Unlimited runs on Base. Never send OMI on Ethereum to your staking wallet: bridge it from your own wallet first. How to get your OMI onto Base walks through it.
- Check the address. Compare the first and last few characters, and never type an address from memory. Some scams swap addresses you've copied, so check again after you paste.
Keep your seed phrase offline
If you use your own wallet:
- Write your seed phrase down on paper and keep it somewhere safe and offline. Never store it in photos, notes apps, email or the cloud.
- Anyone with your seed phrase has your wallet. No real support team will ever ask for it.
- For larger holdings, consider a hardware wallet.
Scams to watch for
- Fake support. Accounts that reply to your post or DM you offering help. Real help is in the app (Profile, then Support) or in the official Discord channels.
- Fake claims and airdrops. Sites asking you to connect a wallet to "claim" OMI Unlimited rewards. Rewards arrive in your VeVe account automatically.
- Impersonators. Lookalike accounts using ECOMI or VeVe names and logos. Check the handle, and use your bookmarks.
- "Gas" requests. Gas fees are sponsored when you stake from the embedded wallet made for you. Nobody needs you to send ETH to unlock anything.
- Too good to be true. Guaranteed returns, "double your OMI" offers, and giveaways that ask you to send something first.
If something goes wrong
- Stop. Don't sign anything else.
- If you shared your seed phrase or private key, move your assets to a new wallet you create yourself, from a device you trust.
- If you signed an approval you don't recognize, revoke it from your wallet.
- Change your passwords and check your 2FA settings.
- Get help from Support in the app, or the official ECOMI Discord.
How your OMI is protected
- Non-custodial. Your staked OMI is held by the staking contract, never by ECOMI.
- Audited. The staking contract was independently audited by Hacken, with no critical, high or medium findings. Read the report.
- Controlled changes. Any change to the contract needs 3 of 5 signers on a multisig, and then waits 48 hours on a public timelock before it can take effect.
- Your exit is always open. Withdrawals can never be paused.
